Duties and Requirements of the Job:
*Design / Product Development
1. Conduct harness value add assembly design activities. Interpret customer system information to ensure proper electrical design.
2. Understand customer sub-system packaging requirements and constraints to properly route/package the harness.
3. Prepare DFMEA's and DVP (**** plans) and effectively utilize information to create robust product designs.
4. Work with customer Managers to understand and use as appropriate the customer's engineering design guidelines / procedures / specifications.
5. Review and analyze new components or technologies as they apply to harness design or manufacturing.
6. Assist in performing performance analysis on new components and designs.
Ideally has ability to determine grounding and fuse protection strategy—system engineer would do—Need experience a little beyond traditional wire application engineering.
*Cost Reduction
Identify Cost Reduction opportunities through product redesign or alternate materials.
Identify approval requirements for affected customers and drive to completion all ****ing activities.
*New Product Introduction
Assist in defining and maintaining customer project schedules as tasks relate to ECI activities.
Assist in developing internal timelines to meet customer program timing requirements.
Drive PPAP/FPA approval activities at the customer's locations.
Provide assistance at customer locations for Pre-Production runs and problem solving.
*General
Support Sales in identifying new business opportunities with existing and new customers.
Support Cost Estimating in terms of addressing all technical issues.
Support Advanced Purchasing organization in the identification and assessment of new suppliers.
Perform all activities in accordance with customer, agency (UL, CSA, etc) and ISO / QS requirements.
Other duties as assigned by the department manger.
*Skills Required to Perform the Duties of the Job:
1. Good understanding of design procedures and specifications relating to harness design in the Agriculture, heavy duty truck, or construction equipment industries.
2. Ability to manage multiple program events and changing priorities such that engineering objectives are met.
3. Ability to formulate and implement solutions to design problems.
Effective communication skills.
4. Willing to voice concerns and take appropriate action in a timely fashion over any perceived risk whether for new, existing, or obsolete product / service kits.
5. Ability to work in a global team environment and on own with limited supervision.
Willing and able to travel to various customers, suppliers and manufacturing locations in Asia.
6. Conversational in English (Rev: Fluent in Mandarin. Functional in verbal English may be acceptable but prefer better. Must be excellent in written English.) MNC's are the focus segment so English is a requirement.
